@Fidgetcetera so: yes, you can! keep an eye out for opportunities. open source projects often have bugs that nobody's touched for months, that simply need somebody to sit down and debug them.
@Fidgetcetera yes! this is totally a valid specialization to have, and at most companies would fit somewhere on the line between SRE and support engineer depending on what code you’re debugging.
Heck, there are entire consultancies doing forensics on “something terrible happened, what factors within and outside the code helped cause it?”
